He is an alumnus of IIT, Madras, IIM, Ahmedabad and NUS, Singapore. He has served as Executive Director of NTPC- India’s largest integrated power company, after which he had an illustrious career at Rolls Royce and Siemens in Singapore. He has deep expertise in various aspects of the power sector in India. He divides his time between Australia and India.
MBA (Fin), Indiana University and HBAP, Harvard University, has served as the Chief Risk Officer at FirstEnergy Corporation, USA. Prior to that he was the Chief Risk Officer at New York Power Authority. In earlier days, he has worked in various capacities in NTPC. He is a seasoned risk professional and taught enterprise risk management at Columbia University, New York. He has served on the Board of Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS).
BE (Mech.) from NIT Durgapur and PG in Management from MDI, Gurgaon, he had a brilliant track record in NTPC spanning 37 years, 18 years of which were in Renewable Energy solutions. He specializes in Project Management and Engineering of Solar PV plants from concept to commissioning. He has successfully managed Solar PV projects in remote parts of India totalling 3000 MW+, mentored 1,000+ executives in Solar technology, and conducted Technical Audit of Solar projects. He is passionate about transforming India into a global Renewable Energy leader.
He is an alumnus of IIT Kharagpur, XLRI and SSBM Geneva. He has served as CEO, Reliance Energy and ED (Operations), Torrent Power. He has distinguished experience in power systems planning, building and maintenance of large power plants, transmission systems and distribution networks. His expertise includes ATC loss reduction strategies, reliability standards in supply, re-engineering of power distribution processes, and modernization of the network.
He is a BE from BITS, Pilani and Ph.D from MNIT, Jaipur. He has decades of experience in industrial pollution control, waste management, ESG compliance, circular economy and sustainability. He was instrumental in setting up the Integrated Waste Recycling Park in Jaipur, the first of its kind in India, and introduced CII green rating program for industries in Rajasthan. He has published several research papers in peer-reviewed international journals.
He has served as Director and CISO, Grid Controller of India. He is an expert on regional energy markets, contributing extensively in electricity market design and automation. His core competencies extend to power systems regulatory affairs and advancing digital technologies in electricity transmission including SCADA and a risk-based approach to operational technology cybersecurity, ensuring a secure power infrastructure.
Mr Jayant Sinha is an Engineer from BITS (Pilani), PGDBM, Sustainability Leader, Accredited Management Teacher and Capgemini Level 5 Certified Energy Professional. He has served public and private sectors in digital transformation, program management, engineering consultancy and capacity building in smart metering, smart grids, power automation, RE technologies and sustainability, across India, UK, Spain, Americas and Middle East.
